On The Application Of Non-traditional Materials In Chinese Painting

This paper makes a preliminary analysis and discussion on the application of non-traditional materials in painting in chronological order,combining with the representative artists and their works in the history of arts at home and abroad.At the same time,it briefly combs the development process of Chinese and foreign painting with"material" as the main line.After thousands of years of development,painting materials have formed their own traditions and systems in China and the West.Since the Industrial Revolution,the rapid development of economy and technology,especially the emergence of photography technology has brought great impact on the field of painting,directly affecting the changes of artists' painting expressions and concepts,from the description of reality to the expression of world cognition and inner feelings.In the West,a group of artists took the lead in making changes in materials,breaking the bondage and applying non-traditional materials and techniques to their works,which promoted the further development of painting materials.Since pop artists advocated breaking the boundaries between art and life,a large number of ready-made products have been used in painting to express artists' unique aesthetic and inner feelings.Since the "Opium War" in China,Western painting concepts and techniques have been introduced into China in large quantities,which had a tremendous impact on the traditional Chinese painting system formed since the Sui and Tang Dynasties.A group of Chinese artists began to travel to the other side of the ocean to study western painting and to engage in various attempts and explorations.Since the founding of New China,painting materials have been further developed.After the "reform and opening up",more and more young artists began to accept the western art trend,painting materials and concepts are further changing,and a large number of excellent art works emerged using non-traditional painting materials.The major domestic art colleges have also offered courses related to "materials" one after another,forming a wave of materials art with Chinese characteristics.
