The Application Of Granular Material In Modern Lacquer Painting

Focusing on the common granular material in modern lacquer painting as research object, this article discusses the categories of granular material and painting technique that commonly used in modern lacquer painting, as well as the language trait and time significance applied in the modern lacquer painting language. The main research contents are as follows:1. The categories of granular material commonly used in modern lacquer painting.2. The ways how granular material and modern lacquer painting combine.3. The aesthetic value and time significance of granular material used in modern lacquer painting.First of all, the article divides all granular materials that used in lacquer painting into two categories, the organic and the inorganic, followed by the introduction of material categories and their corresponding simplified process method. Then the author introduces the connection between modern lacquer painting and granular material from four specific process technique aspects includes priming, coloring, inlaying and paste-on-paste decoration, for the purpose of elaborating the formal language and express intention created by granular material of different kind or form. In addition, this article analyzes the functions of granular materials in the creation of picture atmosphere, the addition of picture detail, the embodiment of lacquer painting language trait and the presentation of artist’s art taste, from the angle of aesthetics. These functions demonstrated the language trait and aesthetic connotation of material application. The final goal of this article is to develop the potential of lacquer painting materials and to innovate the application of material based on traditional painting technique, as well as to search art regulation more according to the modern aesthetics and to provide references for choosing and using the granular material in the creation of lacquer painting.
