The question of "medium" of art has always been one of the most important topics in the study of art theory.The media used in artistic works,as the material level of artistic image communication,constitute the category of their works that can be truly felt,and the choice of media also means that artistic works have completely different characteristics.Therefore,the importance of media research is as important as other factors affecting artistic works.Based on the works of Zhang Peili,an artist of CHI SHE and "Chi" in different periods,this paper analyzes the prehistory of Chinese new media art to understand what kind of environment Chinese New Media Art takes place in and the characteristics of Chinese New Media Art born under this circumstance.In terms of analysis method,New Media Art is not regarded as an independent Video art or Internet art,but a kind of New Media Art in a broad sense,namely a mixed media framework and standpoint based on time-media.This paper analyzes the pre-history,exhibition environment,creation theme,narrative strategy and working method of Chinese New Media Art from the three main aspects of non-media,internal media and the embodiment of "interactivity" outside media,so as to explore the possibility of the development of Chinese New Media art.
