Soren Kierkegaard is a 19th-century Danish philosopher known as the father of "existentialism." He cares about the individual's living conditions and his philosophy has a major impact on later "philosophy of existence." By analyzing the relationship between human spirit and self,Kierkegaard believes that every living person is in a state of "despair",and despair is unavoidable.because despair is in the composition of the self. The purpose of the individual is to become a spiritual self. The fundamental reason for despair is that a desperate person wants to become himself without relying on that to build his strength. As a single individual, only through faith, relying on the power of self-building,that is,relying on God,becoming a Christian, becoming a "specific person",can people be saved from the sickness unto death and become spiritual Self.Kierkegaard's "despair" thought, for the first time, analyzed the reality and predicament of human existence as an individual in the view of existence, which opened up the reflection of modern western philosophy on human existence.Through the analysis of the relationship between "despair" and "self" and God,this paper points out that the way for an individual to get rid of despair is to become a real spiritual self.
