Franz Schubert is an important representative figure of western romantic music, who has left a rich music cultural heritage for mankind in his short life.Schubert's music creation covers a variety of art forms such as art songs, symphonies and improvisations, among which improvisation is a music genre first created by him and an important work in his piano creation. In his life,Schubert created 11 improvisations, eight of which were handed down to the world. Each capital was a genre painting, delicate and casual, small and charming, which highlighted the characteristics of romantic music and also showed the characteristics of Schubert' music.Impromptu Op.90 is Schubert's later works, which indicates the beginning of Romanticism and has a far-reaching impact on later composers. This work can be regarded as either four independent piano pieces or a large-scale piano music. In this paper, four chapters are used to analyze the artistic features and performance skills of this work.Firstly,it briefly combs Schubert and improvisation;secondly,it analyses the music ontology of Op.90 in terms of harmony, musical form and tonality;thirdly,it interprets the artistic characteristics of Op.90 in improvisation;lastly,it analyses the performing skills of Op.90 in improvisation combined with its own learning and playing experience.
