A Brief Analysis Of The Selection Background Of Yue Minjun And Liu Xiaodong's Character Creation

Yue Minjun and Liu Xiaodong are well-known contemporaiy oil painters in China.Most of their works are based on character themes.Their oil paintings record the development of an era,depicting the Chinese people,and also pushing Chinese contemporary figure-painting to the world stage.These two painters,who were also bom in the middle of the 20th century,have similar life background and educational experience,but their works have different tendencies and forms of expression,which makes them representative painters of Chinese realistic oil painting.The purpose of this paper is to compare and analyze Yue Minjun's and Liu Xiaodong's works on character theme,to summarize and analyze the characteristics of their selection,as well as the similarities and differences in the direction and content of their selection.This article starts with introducing the material selection characteristics of Yue Minjun's and Liu Xiaodong's figure paintings,extends the comparison of Yue Minjun's and Liu Xiaodong's materials selection,analyses and compares their similarities and differences in the selection of materials,and finally,combines with the research topic,the author talks about the experience of oil painting creation from his own learning status quo.
