Research On The Image Construction Of Folk Craftsmen In Documentaries

The documentary is coalition of truth and objectivism.For a documentary,whether it construct a true and objective character image determines the depth of the subjective expression of the character documentary.Therefore,the key point of the character documentary creation is tapping the inner emotion and life state of the character.Through making film “Bai Bu Po” documentary,tells the story of Shen Cuilian prepared for the 2019 Lantern Festival in Nanning,and shows the current situation of urban folk craftsmen.On the one hand,the documentary shows the traditional craftsman's lantern production process and the unique personality charm of folk craftsmen;on the other hand,the dilemma faced by craftsmen.Through this documentary,the author hopes to arouse people's attention to folk crafts and to think about the current status of folk culture.This article takes the creation of the documentary “Bai Bu Po” as an example to explore the strategy of creating character image in documentary.Selecting a single folk craftsman as the main body,through the record of half a year,presents the true status of the current folk craftsmen.Looking for the commonality of the folk craftsmen by studying of present situation,presenting the commonality by using typicality of the single character and the thinking about the folk craftsmen's status of creator.This article focuses on the strategy of constructing the characters in the documentary “Bai Bu Po”: Firstly,in the choice of narrative perspective,breaking through the limitations of a single narrative perspective,choosing a diversified narrative perspective that combines the omniscience perspective with the restrictive perspective.The inside and outside image and personality of the character are displayed in a restrictive perspective of the photographer,push development,in order to present the multi-faceted character image and the event details.Second,added the single narrative structure in the structural design,to show the comeness of traditional holiday in section type single adding cross narrative structure,strengthens the folk craftsmen sticks to traditional festival and highlights the importance of the traditional folk culture in the present moment.Thirdly,according to the changes of the characters' psychology,behavior and environment,using different compositions,lights,and angles to present the characters in different periods.Besides different sounds could render the changes of the characters' emotions,and the montage editing help to controls the rhythm of the film,these tools match the development of the event and the emotional changes of the character.This article explores and summarizes the creation of the documentary “Bai Bu Po”,hoping to provide some reference for the creation of folk crafts documentaries.
