| Information literacy has become one of the core qualities of teachers’ professional development.On the basis of previous studies,this work made a systematic analysis of the basic connotation of junior middle school English teachers’ information literacy.Furthermore,a questionnaire on the current situation of junior middle school English teachers’ information literacy was designed accordingly.After an investigation of the current situation of English teachers’ information literacy in seven junior middle schools in the west coast new area of Qingdao,the existing problems and causes of teachers’ information literacy in this area were analyzed and classified and corresponding improvement strategies were also proposed.First of all,this work suggested major problems that the junior middle school English teachers share.Firstly,the English teachers don’t have positive information attitude.The development of information knowledge and information ability is not balanced.What’s more,the awareness of information moral self-discipline is far less than sufficient.Secondly,the professional knowledge literacy of junior middle school English teachers is weak,and the teachers also don’t have the literacy to combine information technology and English courses.Thirdly,the junior middle school English teachers have a weak sense of scientific research information,and they also need to improve their lifelong learning information ability.Secondly,this paper proposed the factors affecting the improvement of junior middle school English teachers’ information literacy.As for the external influencing factors,the school leaders’ awareness about information technology is insufficient.The construction of school information environment is not enough.Besides,the suitable evaluation and feedback mechanism of teachers’ information literacy is yet to be designed.Information literacy training for the teachers also needs to be improved.As for the internal influencing factors,there is a conflict between the teachers’ current situation and development needs.And English teachers in junior middle schools don’t have the good educational philosophy or broad international perspective.Also,the teachers don’t have a concept of lifelong learning.Finally,some countermeasures and suggestions were made to help improve the information literacy of English teachers in junior middle schools.The government and education authorities should carry out information leadership training for principals and effectively improve the inputs for school educational information.What’s more,schools should work hard to create an environment and atmosphere to promote teachers’ information literacy.To actively build an effective evaluation mechanism for teachers’ information literacy,and reasonably optimize the junior middle school English teacher training system are also in great importance.Teachers themselves not only need to strengthen their information consciousness and set up a complete new view of information,but also master information knowledge and improve information ability.In addition,teachers also need to strengthen the theoretical study and practical exploration of the integration of information technology and English courses. |
