Cognitive linguistics is a branch of cognitive science and a new frontier of the combination of cognitive research and linguistics.Metaphor,as an important research object of cognitive linguistics,is not only a tool for people to understand and express abstract concepts, but also a way of thinking for people to recognize the world.Metaphor is a projection between two different cognitive domains-the source domain and the target domain, focusing on the similarity between the two categories. As a popular culture, pop songs have dual attributes of culture and entertainment. The lyrics of pop songs themselves are also a language art,and play an important role in pop songs.Based on the conceptual metaphor theory of cognitive linguistics, this paper studies the love metaphor in the lyrics of contemporary Russian and Chinese popular songs.Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, the similarities and differences of love metaphors and metaphorical language in the lyrics of Russian and Chinese popular songs are summarized. At the same time,it analyses the cultural factors that influence metaphor.Through the study,we find that the lyrics of Russian and Chinese contemporary pop songs have the same target domain in love metaphor, but different origin domains. This is not only closely related to the cognitive association of Russian and Chinese nationalities, but also deeply influenced by national culture. This paper analyses the influencing factors of love metaphor in the lyrics of Russian and Chinese popular songs.
