The Characteristics And Translation Of Legislative Text Vocabulary

As a legislative text features its enforceability and regulatory power,it tends to use more professional and precise language when compared with legal texts in a broader sense.As to the translation of a legislative text,the difficulties mainly exist at the lexical level,including the translation of nominalized structures,fuzzy words and polysemous words or phrases.Translators should associate the text with other information while translating,especially in dealing with those legal words and phrases instead of focusing too much on the wording itself,for one of the main ultimate purposes of translating legislative texts is to transfer its full legal function.Based on the examples of California Coastal Act 2016,this paper intends to discuss lexical problems in translation of legislative texts and find feasible and referential solutions.Through summarizing the problems and methods,the author hopes to improve the preciseness of legislative text translation.
