Mr.Dan Dang was listed by some historians as an equally important zen monk painter as the four monks.Because of the limitations of history and geography,his name and paintings are not well known by many people.However,he has superb views and profound artistic practice on Zen and painting.He is an outstanding Zen painter who pushed the zen in ink painting to its peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.This paper takes the role of Mr.Dan as the research object,and discusses the causes of his painting style,artistic characteristics,and its influence and enlightenment on later painters.Firstly,this paper makes a brief analysis of the zen thought that influenced his ink painting and the fashion of the painting circle in the late Ming dynasty,and makes an in-depth analysis of the living environment of Yunnan topography and teacher-student relationship,so as to make a comprehensive analysis of the forming origin of the painting style of the artist.Secondly,it focuses on the analysis of the characteristics of his painting style,and in-depth discussion of his ink and wash painting and the trace of simplicity in the ink,images,layout of the specific performance,to elaborate "Qi" and "Jian" two characteristics of the ink zen landscape painting.Finally,the paper discusses the influence of Dan Dang's ink painting on later generations,and makes a longitudinal analysis of the inheritance of the thoughts and style characteristics of the painting of later generations,so as to obtain enlightenment for current creation.
