Animal idioms are an indispensable part of Chinese idioms and are abundant in number.Because animal images are used to express the meaning of idioms, the metaphors of animal idioms are vivid and profound, and the cultural connotation is strong and distinct. From the perspective of translation, this paper discusses the animal idioms in the two languages and makes a comparison, which will help reveal the different characteristics of the animal idioms in the two languages, sum up the equivalence between translation skills and the two idioms, and find some problems in the translation of Chinese and Uygur idioms. The author found 875 idioms related to animals in the "Chinese Idioms Dictionary"(2007)published by Shanghai Dictionary Publishing House.About 395 of these idioms have been translated into Uygur(taking the statistics from the two editions of the Chinese-Uygur Idiom Dictionary published by Ethnic Publishing House in 1979 and 2000 as an example),which shows that the translation of idioms has also received some attention.Animal idioms are only the tip of the iceberg in Chinese idioms, but this kind of animal idioms have obvious characteristics of high frequency of use and thus have certain research value.Judging from the definition of Chinese and Uygur idioms, there are obvious differences between the concepts and categories of Chinese idioms and Uygur idioms.Judging from the research situation of Chinese and Uygur idioms, although the achievements in the research of Chinese idioms are relatively comprehensive at present, the research on the translation of Chinese idioms into Uygur language is still insufficient,so it is very important to strengthen the research on the translation of Chinese idioms into Uygur language. As a special language carrier, translation contains multi-level language content and profound cultural connotation, and can reflect the commonness and individuality of the two languages. This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part, which respectively discusses the research purpose and significance, research theory and methods of this paper, and explains the corpus used in this paper and the transliteration symbols of Uygur characters. The second chapter is an overview of Chinese and Uygur idioms, discussing the sources of Chinese and Uygur idioms respectively. The third chapter mainly discusses the structural features and metaphor features of Chinese Uygur idioms. The fourth chapter discusses the translation of Chinese animal idioms in Uygur language in detail by applying the theories of translatology and so on,and analyzes and studies the translation methods of animal idioms and some errors in translation from the perspective of translation skills. The fifth chapter is the conclusion part, combing and summarizing the research content of this article, pointing out the value and shortcomings of this article, and making suggestions for future research and learning.
