A Study Of Nanyang County In The Han Dynasty From The Perspective Of Political Geography

This paper mainly studies Nanyang county in the Han Dynasty from the perspective of political geography.By showing the changes of administrative divisions and political status in the historical development of Nanyang county in the Han Dynasty,it examines the relationship between political and social activities and the changes in Nanyang county,and discusses the influence of the political and geographical patterns of different dynasties on local areas.Nanyang county was built in the Warring States time.Prior to this,the states of Han,Wei,Chu,Qi and other countries all existed in Nanyang.The study of the countries of Nanyang,is helpful to trace the source,understand the historical background and geographical basis of the Nanyang county.After the establishment of Nanyang county in 272 BC,the administrative structure,size,boundary and shape of Nanyang county changed with the change of dynasties.In 202 BC,Nanyang became a county in the Han Dynasty.In 168 BC,Xiping,Langling,Yang'an and other states in the east of Nanyang were cut down and put into Runan county.In 114 BC,Danshui and Xi was cut down and returned to Hongnong county.Since then,the county is has been as described in the History of the Former Han Dynasty.With the change of Nanyang county,its political status also changed.In Xinmang period,Wang Mang changed the system to Nanyang county,called Wan as the South City,and set up five divisions.This indicates that the region had a high political status in Xinmang period and was an important area of capital city.During the eastern Han Dynasty,the political district of Nanyang county changed mainly in 39 years.Danshui and Xi return to Nanyang.Zhangling and Nanxiang was separated from Nanyang county.The restoration of Nanyang county political district evolution is conducive to the formation of the overall understanding of Nanyang county,which lays a foundation for the explanation of the reasons for the change of Nanyang county political district in the following paragraphs.In the different dynasty political geography pattern,the Nanyang county position is also not identical.From the early years of the Western Han Dynasty directly under the jurisdiction of the region to the middle and late Western Han Dynasty in the county,The core area of two capitals in Xinmang period,the core area(Emperor Township)in the Eastern Han Dynasty,and the ordinary interior county in the late Eastern Han Dynasty,Nanyang county has risen and fallen amid changes in the dynastic political geography.Most of the reasons that influenced the change of the status of Nanyang County came from the political decision of the central dynasty,the characteristics of the current situation and the regional advantage of Nanyang county itself.The settlement of the problem of the Western Han Dynasty and the change of the regional control strategy of Guangguan and expanding Guanzhong area led to the replacement of Hongnong county by the Barrier Guanzhong of Nanyang county,and the transformation of the barrier Guanzhong into the general inner county of Guanzhong.During the Xinmang period,Wang Mang intended to promote Luoyang and set up six counties centered on Luoyang.Nanyang county became an important inner county of Luoyang,and its military function became more obvious.Due to the political inclination of Liu Xiu and the influence of the powerful families in Nanyang,the position of Emperor Township in Nanyang County was established.In the early Eastern Han Dynasty,the expansion of the territory of Nanyang county was related to adjusting the geographical relationship between counties and coping with the war in northwest China,not only to improve the political status of Nanyang County.At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty,the imperial power declined,and the Nanyang county was divided under the influence of the political situation.Nanyang county Emperor township gradually lost the glory.Since the Western Han Dynasty,there has been a feudal Lord in Nanyang County.In the Western Han Dynasty,Nanyang county was the center of the country,and it did not belong to any other kingdom.The Eastern Han Dynasty only existed for a short time when the emperor was offered.However,the Vassal State of Nanyang county was not interrupted because of the change of its status(except during the period of separation).The regional characteristics of the feudal lords in Nanyang county are not obvious,and they are widely distributed.In the Western Han Dynasty,for example,Nanyang county became the main place to settle the foreign countries.In the Eastern Han Dynasty,the main objects of enfeoffment were princesses and Liu clans.
