After the War of Independence, the black slavery system in the United States was likely to disappear under the unremitting struggle of abolitionists and the impact of capitalist economic development.Congress also promulgated the Abolition of the International Slave Trade Law in 1808.However,with the development of the cotton plantation economy in the United States in the early 19 th century, the slave system was revived, which led to the emergence of domestic slavery in the country. The contradiction regarding the issue of black slavery has become increasingly prominent, and the abolition movement has developed rapidly.Driven by the abolition movement,“The American Anti-Slavery Society” came into being. Its rise and fall has a close relationship with the development of the Abolitionist movement. The first chapter of this study first analyzes the background of the creation of “The American Anti-Slavery Society”.Under the influence and impact of the “Second Great Awakening Movement” and the “American Colonial Society”,the United States launched a national and mass abolition movement in the 1830 s.Part of the abolitionists represented by William Lloyd Garrison formed a national and mass organization for the abolitionist movement “The American Anti-Slavery Society”.On this basis, the second chapter focuses on the main activities carried out by “The American Anti-Slavery Society”.“The American Anti-Slavery Society” adheres to the “moral sermon” principle of abolition of slavery and replaces the “gradual” and “compensated”emancipation of traditional abolitionists with “immediate and unconditional liberation.” Since then,“The American Anti-Slavery Society” has developed agents, formed branches, published newspapers and magazines and various brochures to promote slavery ideas throughout the country. These activities have greatly promoted the development of the slavery movement. However,at a time when“The American Anti-Slavery Society” flourished, internal divisions broke out in 1840.The third chapter focuses on the reasons for the decline of “The American Anti-Slavery Society” and its impact on the abolitionist movement.Locally, this split has greatly weakened the role of “The American Anti-Slavery Society” in the abolitionist movement. But on the whole, this division has raised the overall level of the abolitionist movement, which has promoted the American abolitionist movement from a separate “moral preaching” approach to coexisting “political action”and “moral preaching”coexistence.Correspondingly, the situation of “The American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society ” represented by “Political Action” faction and “The American Anti-Slavery Society” represented by “moral preaching” faction appeared in the country.Since then,“ The American Anti-Slavery Society” has played a much worse role in the abolitionist movement than before, and gradually declines until the black slaves are liberated, and “The American Anti-Slavery Society”gradually fades out of the public eye.The last chapter of this study analyzes the role of“The American Anti-Slavery Society” in the abolitionist movement.“The American AntiSlavery Society” has made a huge contribution to the abolitionist movement. It has trained a large number of abolitionist backbones for the abolitionist movement;it has led the development direction of the abolitionist movement;it has promoted women's participation in abolition activities; The liberation of black slaves laid the foundation of public opinion;the cooperation between blacks and whites was promoted.Studying the rise and fall of “The American Anti-Slavery Society” from the perspective of the abolitionist movement. It is academically innovative to look at the development of the Abolitionist movement through the rise and fall of “The American Anti-Slavery Society”.At the same time,“The American Anti-Slavery Society” Research for the carrier is helpful to understand the difficulties of the black slave liberation process more accurately and deeply.Through the study of the development and evolution of “The American Anti-Slavery Society”,it can also arouse public attention and reflection on black people who are still at the bottom of American society.
