In the coffin of tomb No.1 of Mawangdui,there are many deer figures on the walls of the second layer of black painted coffin and the third layer of Zhu painted coffin.Deer image is a frequent element decoration in the funeral activities in Chu area,including painted deer patterns,wood carvings of lying deer,deer horn tomb animals,etc.Both the realistic three-dimensional deer carving and the dynamic plane deer pattern have strong symbolic meaning and different functional attributes,which play an important role in the funeral rites in Chu area.The burial time of Mawangdui No.1 tomb is in the early Han Dynasty.At this time,the society is in the period of changing from Chu witch to Han custom.The images of deer in different positions on the painted coffin also reflect the views of Changsha at that time on the three different functional dimensions of deer image,which are "soul leading","Tomb protection" and "Immortality promotion".This paper is divided into six chapters to analyze the deer image in the lacquer coffin of tomb 1.The first chapter is the basic overview of the deer image in the four coffins and coffin wall decoration of tomb No.l;the second chapter mainly discusses the deer in the lacquer coffin,which leads the soul to rise to the sky,and analyzes the process of its leading the soul to rise;the third chapter discusses the combination function of the image of the funerary animals popular in Chu,such as the dragon,tiger,deer,Phoenix,etc.,and further analyzes the antler monster and antler Exorcism in the second layer of black lacquer coffin effect.The fourth chapter discusses the celestial deer in the lacquer coffin,the White Deer in the auspicious culture of the Han Dynasty,and expounds the space of the Han Dynasty.The fifth chapter analyzes the decorative features of Mawangdui deer from the aspects of line,color,composition and lacquer art.The sixth chapter mainly analyzes the style pattern of deer image in Mawangdui lacquer coffin and its influence on the shape pattern of deer image in the north and Central Plains.
