Carl Nielsen's Three Violin Sonatas Harmony Research

Carl Nielsen is a Danish nationalist composer,one of the most influential composers in the new national music school,he is an important part of the Danish people's efforts to construct their national cultural identity.His creation began at the end of the 19 th century.Under the background of tonality expansion and on the basis of inheriting traditional harmony,he still insisted on tonality music creation and integrated various composition techniques to form an eclectic style of traditional and modern music creation.This paper takes Carl Nielsen 's three violin sonatas as the research object,with harmony as the main research perspective,in-depth analysis and summary of the creation background and characteristics,analysis of harmony techniques,and development characteristics of harmony.In this logical order,this paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter gives an overview of the composer and his works.The second chapter makes a comprehensive analysis of the harmony technique from three levels: the violin sonata in G major under inheritance and innovation,the first violin sonata under tonality expansion,and the second violin sonata under linear thinking.To clarify the inheritance and development of Nielsen 's harmony technique in violin sonata creation.This paper studies how he brought rich and colorful sound to music by means of expanding and integrating modes,inheriting and innovating traditional harmonic materials,and gradually integrating linear thinking.The third chapter,following the previous chapter,explores the characteristics of the composer's harmonic technique and thinking through tonality presentation and development of harmonic technique.Nielsen 's three violin sonatas harmonic progression confirm a process from simplicity to complexity,while harmony structure verifies the process from simplicity to complexity to fusion.It reflects the overlapping of functional compliance and functional innovation,the fusion of "traditional" and "modern",and finally forms the harmony language with personal characteristics.
