This study was conducted in order to examine Chinese language enjoyment among Chinese language learners at Nanjing Normal University,China,as well as to investigate this relationship from the perspective of gender,period of Chinese learning and the highest levels of HSK attained by the students.The informants in the study were a total of 138 international students learning Chinese at Nanjing Normal University located in China's Jiangsu province.46 of the participants were male while 92 of the participants were female.To compute the quantitative data obtained,the statistical program IBM SPSS 23 was used.Standard descriptive and inferential statistics were used to report means,median and standard deviation for sociodemographic and base-line characteristics of the sample.The t-Test,ANOVA and correlation statistics were used to show mean differences and the relationships in the score data.The results of this study revealed that the participants experienced high levels of Chinese language enjoyment,and the enjoyment of Teacher support was the perceived the most.The Chinese language enjoyment that was related to student class interactions came second while the Enjoyment of Chinese learning came third.There were no statistically significant differences between males and females in Chinese language enjoyment.The results also show that the learners' Chinese learning period and HSK levels did not have an impact on the levels of Chinese language enjoyment they perceived.The statistical data analysis tool NVivo 12 was used to analyze the qualitative data.The analysis of the qualitative data collected showed that apart from the three dimension of Chinese language enjoyment there were a considerable range of other factors that were a source of Chinese language enjoyment among the students.These were mostly outside class activities that were related to their Chinese learning.Some students reported a perception of no enjoyment.These findings shed light on the state of Chinese language enjoyment among foreign students in China,as well as emphasize on the importance of the teacher's pedagogical skills in influencing the students' enjoyment levels.
