Today's sculpture is a broad art category, and almost all three-dimensional modeling art can be counted in it.However, ancient sculpture creations often focused on the two major themes of characters and animals, forming a fixed appearance, and the subject of plants was also involved, but never entered the mainstream. This article uses ancient Chinese sculpture as the starting point to analyze the reasons behind this phenomenon. The first chapter briefly introduces the creation of several typical plant themes in ancient Chinese sculptures, including bronze trees from the pre-Qin to the Han dynasties, plants in Buddhist statues, jewelry, and architectural sculptures. And the ideas behind these sculptures. The second chapter analyzes from several aspects and draws four reasons. One is that the shape of the plant is not easy to handle into a sculpture, which is more suitable for painting. The second is the decline of the tree worship faith behind plant sculptures, and the third is that plant sculptures have been replaced by other forms of creation, such as bonsai. In addition, the deeper reason lies in the path dependence of the sculpture during its development. |
