Along with social progress and development,senior high teachers are required to update their education concepts.To change the previous situation where students are merely considered as knowledge-instilled objects,senior high teachers ought to respect the students' individual differences so that every student can realize their value.On account of senior high students' various backgrounds and different learning habits,senior high school teachers need to explore a new kind of English teaching mode to satisfy the needs of students with different levels,reduce the differences among individual students,improve the self-confidence of underachievers in English learning,and raise the English levels of the whole class accordingly.The purpose of the study is to prove that compared with conventional teaching method,hierarchical cooperative teaching method is more effective in arousing students' learning interests and ease the current status of polarization.Combining the theory of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude,ZPD and MI,and using literature method,practice and research method and case study method,the writer of this paper selected the students of Laixi Experimental School as a research object,and analyzed the application of stratified cooperative teaching method in senior high school.Before the experiment,the writer of this paper measured the grades of the first three weekly tests of the experimental class and the controlled class as the pre-test,and compared the grades of the final examination of the two classes as the post-test.Through comparison and analysis,we can easily find out that in the pre-test,the grades of the experimental class were apparently lower than that of the controlled class,and that in the post-test(after applying stratified cooperative teaching method),students' English learning interest and enthusiasm improved significantly,especially the underachievers in English learning,which eased the current status of polarization effectively.Generally speaking,on the basis of studying the theoretical basis of hierarchical cooperative teaching method,the writer of the paper tried the new teaching mode,and analyzed the fruits and limitations of the research.At the same time,the author hoped that the teachers and researchers can do more on this aspect.
