Sculptures from ancient times are considered to be eternal because of the durability of their materials, which we can see today. However, the invention of photographic technology and the discovery of new media, coupled with new perspectives generated by society, have made sculpture from a generally understood firmness, durability, and rigidity to an unstable, temporary, and fluid state. In fact, since the 20 th century, many artists have tried to interpret sculpture with new materials. When reading the works of these artists, they found that they often retain the fluidity of the materials, and this transformation has formed a completely different artistic style from the past. Therefore, first introduce the scope of "fluidity" in this paper, and the mechanical properties of it.The space divides the "fluidity of materials" into six chapters, which are summarized by the works of artists after World War II.Most of the sources come from artist albums, interview records and films. The article quotes more artists' self-reports and sorts them out based on the artist's point of view.It mainly introduces how artists deal with materials, such as "why artists choose fluid materials" and "importance of fluidity in their works" as the main discussion content. On the whole,in the works using fluid as the material, the concept of "putting" is usually developed in the flow, because how the material flows is an unexpected physical phenomenon.Furthermore, quite a lot of research on fluid mechanics in the physical world is aimed at predicting and accurately using "fluidity" in pursuit of a strong "receiving".However, under the artist's interpretation,we see the release of energy, the randomness formed by the flow of material, the wild splash of the revealing process, and the cultural impact. All of them put forward the concept of "release" through "flow".
