Research On Zhang Fengliang's Music Contribution

Fengliang Zhang is a famous musical activist and critic in the Shandong Province.He has an extraordinary contribution to collecting and sorting folk music,planning and organizing music and dance joint performance,etc.The Integ of Ethnic and Folk Instrumental Music of China-Shangdong Part composed by Fengliang Zhang collects 461 instrumental musics from 15 places in Shangdong.It presents the folk custom and unique spirit of the folk instrumental music in Shangdong via sound,word,figure,and score.Fengliang Zhang is an important participator and organizer of serial music joint performances in Shangdong and he planned and organized 18 music joint performances.From the 1st Music Joint Performance of Shandong Province in the 1950 s to the matured 1st “Autumn of Spring City” Music Concert in the 1980 s,the music culture was constantly developing in Shangdong.Fengliang Zhang also grew from the participator of music joint performance to the organizer and leader.He wrote multiple critic papers based on his practice.Not only those papers criticize the joint performance,but they also give enthusiastic comments from the aspects of the skills,style,and creation of the joint performance,which have important historical value.This paper has four chapters.The first chapter is an overview of Fengliang Zhang's life,his growing environment,artistic experience,and work situation,which are introduced in combination with literature and oral history.The second chapter is about his music collection.Fengliang Zhang's work on collecting and organizing traditional music are summarized.And the historical significance and academic value of the Collection of Ethnic and Folk Instrumental Music of China-Shangdong Part are discussed.The third chapter is about Fengliang Zhang's music joint performance.Three large-scale music joint performances organized by him are selected,which are further used to have detailed and comprehensive analysis of its historical background,holding situation,duty content,and social impact.The fourth chapter is Fengliang Zhang's music criticism,which illustrates his music criticism on music joint performance groups and musicians,and Fengliang Zhang's influence on music development in Shangdong if further researched.The conclusion of this paper emphasized Fengliang Zhang's extreme contribution to the promotion,popularization,inheritance,and development of the music culture in Shangdong.The Collection of Ethnic and Folk Instrumental Music of China-Shangdong Part composed by Fengliang Zhang is the epitome of the instrumental music in Shangdong,which has a great significance in the inheritance and protection of Shangdong folk music.The large-scale music joint performance planned and organized by Fengliang Zhang brought out a large number of outstanding musical works,which created a group of talented contemporary composers,singers,and performers.Also,it enriched the cultural life of the citizens and enhanced the aesthetic taste of the population.Many of his criticism papers directed music creators and performers to review their artistic achievements calmly and objectively,creating a positive interaction between music criticisms and music creation,music research,and music life.They promote healthy and orderly development of Shandong music.
