At present,in the period of transition of civilization,China is experiencing a general phenomenon of moral anomie. When an individual encounters the conflict between his own interests and those of others,a moral dilemma often arises. This is because the development of science and technology has changed people's life and way of thinking, and the traditional Chinese ethical values of love as the mainstream can not be better applied to the new ethical society. In order to solve the problems of moral perplexity and perplexity in human practice, many scholars are actively looking for new theories to guide the construction of moral civilization.Jean-Jacques Rousseau's thought of self love, with its unique perspective, provides a new way of thinking and a new direction to solve the new moral problems facing mankind. In Jean-Jacques Rousseau's view, self love is an innate emotion, the most primitive of human instincts. This instinct, though not guided by reason,is good and in keeping with the natural order. And,more importantly, there are two other emotions that can develop from this instinctive desire: Compassion and self-esteem.Compassion is a love for others that extends from self love. This kind of love to a certain extent limits people's self-love,so that people will not for their own interests and harm others. But Jean-Jacques Rousseau does not think that this love is higher than self love,on the contrary,he thinks that self love logically precedes compassion.Self-esteem,the emotion that human beings have after they enter the social state, comes from the love of human beings for themselves, but this kind of love has exceeded their own needs to some extent. It is the alienation of self-love.Human carrying out social practice with such alienated feelings will inevitably lead to the appearance of evil in society. To reduce the emergence of evil in society, education and the State of salvation,so that people closer to the emotional state of self-love,so that people can live a free and equal happy life. From an ethical point of view,Jean-Jacques Rousseau's thought of self love not only affirmed the importance and priority of self love in human development, but also clarified the relationship between self love and love for him.His theory not only enriches the development of emotionalism ethics and goes beyond the traditional philosophers' narrow understanding of self-love,but also reverses people's prejudice of self-love since ancient times and urges people to re-recognize the relationship between self-love and love for others,to form the right moral sense. In a word, the exploration and analysis of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's thought of self love is of great significance both in theory and in reality.
