Research On The Ethical Connotation Of Dewey's View Of Technology

Since the 20 th century,countries around the world,especially the developed countries represented by the United States,have accelerated research and development and innovation in technology.This has improved the quality of life,raised people’s living standards,and brought subversion to human life and behavior concepts.However,when technology and its extended utility concepts have become a measure of the level of development of various industries,the emphasis on utility and the lack of virtue have led to a series of high-skill unethical phenomena,which prompted people to conduct an ethical review of the concept of technology.This article aims to take Dewey,the representative of the American philosophy of technology,as the research object,and takes his technological ethical view as the core of research.By excavating his technological ethical view,the contemporary ethical dilemma of technology is eliminated to make technology better benefit humanity.Dewey endows technology with economic power,which has been valued in the development of modern technology in the United States.However,he also endows technology with the cultural and ethical direction,which has not been given enough attention.Faced with the risks and uncontrollable factors brought about by technology,especially in the face of artificial intelligence overturning traditional moral concepts,scholars are more aware of the need to strengthen the study of the effectiveness and ethics of technology.Under this circumstance,it is of great significance to examine the background and ideological origin of Dewey’s conception of technology,analyze the impact of the scientific and technological revolution on Dewey’s thinking since the middle and late 19 th century,and re-examine the meaning,characteristics,and logic of its conception of technology,review the ethical shift of Dewey’s technology view from the perspective of ethics,and dig out the contemporary value of Dewey’s technology view.This thesis attempts to respond how and why good technology is possible.Here is its theoretical significance: Firstly,it is helpful to deepen the study of Dewey’s view of Technology in the academic circle;Secondly,it is helpful to enrich the existing research paradigm of Technology Ethics.The current research focuses more on the field of science and technology,while this paper studies the relationship between technology and the construction of human relations order from the perspective of ethics,providing a new perspective for deepening the understanding of the concept of Technology and enriching the research paradigm of Technology Ethics.The practical significance of this paper lies in: Firstly,it is helpful to reflect on how emotional human beings and cold robots live in the New Era;Secondly,it is helpful to promote the sense of responsibility of technology practitioners.With artificial intelligence and big data on the subversive impact of human life,we enjoy the convenience of the development of modern technology,at the same time,we are also subjected to the constraints of modern technology.In face of the increasing problems of Ethics of artificial intelligence,we need to reflect on how to use technology to promote the sustainable existence and development of the community of human destiny.
