Throughout the history of British music in Baroque,there was one man whose name could not be erased: the famous composer Henry Pursell.In his short life,Pursell has created many intriguing works in a wide range of Genres,and has made outstanding contributions to the development of British music.His works embody the British style of music,it has the musical characteristics of Baroque,especially the only opera,Dido and aeneas,which is of epoch-making significance and has a positive influence on later generations.This paper will study Pursell's creative process and background,including the influence of the characteristics of Baroque music on him,to explore the deep meaning of his works,to determine his contribution to British music.The structure of the article is divided into four parts.The introduction includes the basis and theoretical significance of the topic,the research status at home and abroad,and the characteristics of the paper.The first chapter begins with the creation of Pursell,whose musical accumulation laid a solid foundation for the future,combining the historical and cultural background of the Baroque with the development of music in England at that time,the second chapter focuses on Dido and aeneas,in which Dido and aeneas combine the distinctive features of English native music with his strong personal style,this paper makes a systematic study of the language of music and the characteristics of the national style,so as to show the artistic charm of this work,further affirms Pursell's artistic achievements.
