The Function Of "X+Between/Between" And Its Evolutionary Trend

“Jian(间)”and“Zhijian(之间)”are the locative words in modern Chinese,both of which have the structure of“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”to enter the sentence.“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”are very similar in use,and can be used in many cases.However,in the long historical evolution,neither of the two structures shows signs of being eliminated,so we believe that there must be some differences between the two structures,so that both structures have the necessary value of existence.This paper will make a detailed analysis of“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”from the aspects of form,meaning,historical evolution,expressive function and special development.In chapter 1,this paper will make a formal analysis of“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”,and find out the differences at the formal level.There are four kinds of collocation between“X”and“Jian(间)”or“Zhijian(之间)”:"X"and“Jian(间)”or“Zhijian(之间)”form a fixed collocation;monogamicity between“X”and“Jian(间)”or“Zhijian(之间)”;the same"X"can be matched with“Jian(间)”and“Zhijian(之间)”,but there is a great difference in frequency between the two;there is no difference in frequency of use between two structures with the same“X”.Among them,the difference of monogamy and collocation frequency is the most worthy of study.In addition,we will further understand the syntactic distribution differences between“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”from the sentence level.In the second chapter,this paper will analyze from the meaning level.Firstly,the spatial,temporal and relational meanings of“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”are analyzed macroscopically.Secondly,the differences of contents between“X+Jian(间)”and“X+Zhijian(之间)”in the same meaning of expression are analyzed from the microscopic perspective,and the differences of expression effects are analyzed from the subjective degree,textual function and style.In the third chapter,this paper aim to clarify the evolution path of“Jian(间)”,investigate the change course of“Jian(间)”’s part of speech and meaning,analyze its development direction from the perspective of diachronic and synchronic,and focus on the formation and development of“Jian(间)”as a time-body marker.Secondly,on the basis of previous studies,this paper will analyze the lexicalization of“Zhijian(之间)”and its motivation and mechanism in terms of semantics and grammar,so as to provide a strong argument for the formation of“Zhijian(之间)”.In the fourth chapter,this paper will further explore the attached compose of “Jian(间)” tendency,in all the semantic category of “X”,the “Jian(间)” the attached detail may compose,determine the attached compose the “Jian(间)” the scope of the analysis of “Jian(间)” attached to compose the phenomenon and reasons of unbalanced development,and further analysis of compose structure between “X+Jian(间)” distribution,expression function,and the development of “Jian(间)” attached to compose the motivation and mechanism.
