Unsuk chin is one of the most internationally influential Asian composers in the creation of modern music.This paper takes Graffiti,an indoor orchestral composition commissioned by the Los Angeles philharmonic orchestra,as the object of study.Starting from the pitch,rhythm,texture,timbre and structure of the composition,it makes a technical analysis of the composition thinking and polyphonic techniques in the composition.The author will analyze the imitation and counterpoint of the single elements of pitch organization and rhythm organization in Chen yinshu's chamber orchestral work,as well as the correlation between different elements by means of detailed musical score examples and chart examples.This paper is divided into two parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly explains the reason and significance of the topic,and gives an overview of Chen yinshu and her work.The second part is the theme of this paper,which focuses on the analysis and research of Chen yinshu's Graffiti.The following are the contents and emphases of each chapter in the text:In the first chapter,I will analyze Graffiti's technical characteristics,and the composing of the three passages.the first section and second setion is about rhythm and pitch organization for refining and summarized: pitch aspects including limited displacement mode on the use of the works and the local core column is discussed and summarized,rhythm is mainly for work in the use of all the rhythm;the third section is a summary of the musical structure of the three movements of the work.In the second chapter,I will analyze among the elements in the use of polyphonic technique in "Graffiti",mainly from the aspects of pitch and rhythm,and work in these two aspects of imitation and counterpoint analysis: on the pitch for dominated by finite displacement mode and the core of column lines formed between the polyphony relations parsing,tempo is the rhythm patterns between imitation and analyses emphatically the counterpoint between different rhythm.Finally,I analyzes the structure contrast between other elements in the work.In the third chapter,I summarizes other polyphonic techniques used in ‘Graffiti',including the traditional polyphonic variation genre passacaglia,monophonic polyphonic and micro-variation techniques.
