This is a report on Chinese-English translation.The source texts are the first three chapters of Reconstructing the image of Medicine in the Qin and Han Dynasties of China.The main contents are about the medical development in the Han Dynasty.A great many historical materials are used to demonstrate and explain the ideas and original texts of classical ancient books are often quoted as supporting materials.It is difficult to understand the contents because of long and complicated sentences which has hidden logical relationshipThis report is guided by the theory of relevance translation,based on the contrast between Chinese and English.The goal is to accurately convey the meaning of the original text.According to the theory of relevance translation,the translator bears the dual responsibility in the process of translation.On the one hand,the translator is supposed to reason the original intention of the author of the source text.On the other hand,he or she must take into account the context and the grammar of target language Therefore,the translation is a two-round reasoning activity among three players of authors,translators and readersThis report contains five parts.The first part is the general description of the translation task,including the source text,the source language features and the purpose and meaning of the task.The second part is the description of the translation process,including the definition of the text type,understanding the source text,reading parallel texts,using computer-aided translation tools,developing translation plans,and post-translation proofreading.The third part is the theoretical basis,including the introduction of relevance theory and relevance translation theory.The fourth part is case analysis,from words,sentences to the context.The fifth part is the conclusion,including the gains and shortcomings.
