Zhang Zhidong passed through the five dynasties of Daoguang,Xianfeng,Tongzhi,Guangxu,and Xuantong,and was a bureaucrat with educators,industrialists,strategists,and scholars.As a calligrapher of Confucian and Confucian scholars in the late Qing Dynasty,Zhang Zhidong was good at “Guangeti” and Su Shi's calligraphy.The style of calligraphy is the result of the fusion of his longest,profound literary accomplishment and honest and honest character.These external factors,such as the influence of learning,the teachings of famous teachers,the selection of imperial examinations,the advocacy of Su Shi's complex and related calligraphy appraisal evidence are the key factors that influence the formation of Zhang Zhidong's calligraphy style.Secondly,there is a match between Zhang Zhidong's calligraphy viewpoint and the style of calligraphy.Zhang Zhidong's calligraphy style of advocating peace and integrity is an expression of the calligraphic view of “strengthening for abundance and seeking for moisturization with a pen”.The calligraphy is elegant and beautiful,with open brushwork and natural richness.Finally,Zhang Zhidong's appearance of Su Shi's calligraphy had an impact on the style of calligraphy and staff calligraphy in Hubei.At present,his calligraphy still has artistic value,historical value and cultural value.Taken together,Zhang Zhidong's calligraphy,calligraphy ideas,and influence have a place among famous scholars in the late Qing Dynasty.
