During the reign of Louis XIV of France,as a series of policy which compelled Huguenots to converted to Catholicism,some people who were reluctant to convert fled to other countries and regions for taking refuge.The protestant England attracted the skilled Huguenots and England became an important settlement for them.Most English people showed deep sympathy for their suffering and provided timely help,but there are still a part of people to take exceptions to Huguenots' influx based on economic and religious factors.It was during the reign of James? of England that the British reaction to Huguenots' emigration to Britain indirectly influenced the political situation in Britain.This article will examine English response to Huguenots in 1680s,especially during the reign of James ? through the circulation of some pamphlets in British society at that time and some documents about Huguenots,namely how British People treat the Huguenots.Finally,based on above analysis,the article will explore the British political response to Huguenots' Immigration.
