The Obama Administration's Adjustments, Motivations And Impacts Of US-Israel Security Cooperation

During Obama's presidency of the United States,the leaders of the United States and Israel continued to contradict the issue of Iran's nuclear negotiations.Nevertheless,the security cooperation between United States and Israel has been deepening.The main drivers of the Obama administration's deepening security cooperation with Israel include the adjustment of US middle east policy in the new era,the refocusing of policies to enhance the self-defense capabilities of allies and the advancement of the Palestinian-Israeli peace process,and the re-integration of domestic forces affecting US-Israeli relations,which is reflected in balancing differences within the United States congress,reducing the influence of the Israeli lobby;and the challenges posed by the new security situation to U.S.policy in the middle east,the Arab Spring and the rise of ISIS.With the change of the above factors,the security cooperation between the United States and Israel in the new period has also shown new characteristics.According to the policy analysis of the Obama administration in this paper,at this stage,the adjustment of military security cooperation between the United States and Israel includes: focusing on the field of missile defense,adjusting the mode of military assistance in the new period,and deepening the strategic cooperation between the United States and Israel.During Obama's tenure,the growing security cooperation between the United States and Israel has had two influences: on the one hand,through a high level of security cooperation between the two sides,the United States has been able to restrain Israel's diplomatic behavior.On the Iranian nuclear issue,for example,the United States blocked Israel's plan to use force,promote regional stability by avoiding a massive Arab-Israeli conflict.On the other hand,to some extent,the United States has promoted an arms race in the middle east by guaranteeing Israel's military quality advantage and stimulated the development of terrorism.Overall,the United States still wants to maintain its dominance in the middle east,and security cooperation with Israel is an important method for the United States to achieve its strategic objectives.And such a method has taken on new changes with the adjustment of the middle east strategy of the United States.
