The Iraq war is an aggression war launched by the United States under the pretext of "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. The United Kingdom not only participated in the military operations of attacking Iraqi cities in the war,but also participated in the post-war reconstruction work in Iraq. However, the decision by the United Kingdom to send troops to Iraq in 2003 triggered a lot of controversy and has continued to today. In 2016,the "Chilcot Report",which investigated the incident of the British role in the Iraq war, stated that the United Kingdom chose to join the attack on the country before it exhausted the peaceful means of disarming Iraqi weapons. The use of military operations was not the only means of solving problems at the time. Moreover, the judgment of the seriousness of the threat of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction was made without confirmation. Why the United Kingdom chose to attack Iraq naturally formed a valuable problem.Tony Blair, the British prime minister at the time, played a vital role in the entire decision-making process of deciding to attack Iraq.He not only supported the United States and the US President George W.Bush, but also approved the resolution to send troops to Iraq through several ways such as delivering speeches at home.In the face of the controversy caused by sending troops to Iraq,Blair believes that he only made the decision he thought was correct. In order to explore the role of Blair's personal factors, this paper uses Margaret Herman's characteristic analysis theory, combined with existing materials, through the analysis of Blair's personality, reveals the factors that drive Blair to make relevant decisions. This article believes that it is Blair's relevant characteristic factors that led him to promote Britain to participate in the Iraq war.
