Comparing to extra learning, testing what one learned can better promote later retention even without feedback,a phenomenon known as the testing effect. At present, the research has also proved that testing effect produces transfer of learning. In the past experience, simulation test as a kind of method is helpful to study, but how to improve the efficiency of tests has not done much research. On the basis of present studies, this study explores how to effectively arrange the tests to help learning.Three factors were used in this study, including difficult level of materials, testing format(multiple choices and operation tests)and spacing of tests(expanding or equal space). The study includes two experiments.Atotalof 162 students in Nanjing Yanziji high school participanted the experiments. The experimental materials are selected from the 2009 Zhuofan information technology examination practice system, including higher difficult level of materials, lower difficult level of materials, operation mateials and multiple choices materials. The experiment process included a simple review, three intervention tests and a final test. After each intervention test, all students watched feedback video materials. The purpose of Experiment 1 was to examine the effects of test with different difficult materials and intervals on students' skill learning level The level of difficulty and the test interval are used as the independent variable, the correct rate of the three intervention tests and the final test correct rate are used as dependent variables. The results showed that for the same level learners, error prone problems, comparing with lower level difficult materials, higher level of difficulty materials can promote the students' learning level. The purpose of the experiment 2 was to examine the effects of tests with different formats and intervals on the learning ability of students. The material types and test intervals were used as independent variables, the correct rate of three intervention tests and final test accuracy are used as the dependent variable. The results showed that for the same level learners, for error prone problem, comparing equal interval tests, expanding interval test can promote the students' learning ability. For the same level learners, the operation of the problem compared to multiple-choice questions can promote students' learning ability.
