In K-12 school education,engineering education is mostly used as a way to promote other disciplines.In our current education environment,engineering education is still a way of development in the K-12 education in a short-term.According to the characteristics of the discipline,it is feasible and valuable to design and implement engineering design projects in high school general technology.Through the engineering education and engineering design project of K-12 education stage at home and abroad,analyzes the teaching idea of engineering design project and determines the flow chart of teaching design of engineering design project.On the basis of above research,implement the engineering design project "pointer gear drive watch",and analysis of the implementation effect,make Suggestions for teaching.The engineering education in high school is based on science,mathematics and technology as the main disciplines,and can cultivate students ’educational activities to participate in the innovative engineering practice in engineering design.In this process,to cultivate students’ exploration spirit,create interest,engineering career yearning and hands-on design.In high school,engineering design project has the following characteristics:clear objectives,design of the normative and binding,the design process of the system and iterative.The engineering design process includes identifying problems,developing reasonable solutions,designing solutions,analyzing solutions,and optimizing solutions.According to the characteristics of each stage to determine the corresponding teaching methods,so as to design a practical engineering design flow chart.Combined with engineering design features and general technical courses to determine the project content,and select the appropriate implementation.Through the teaching design of the project analysis,the engineering design project of the teaching research is defined as "pointer gear drive watch".The project is designed with the help of LEGO equipment connecting rods,shafts,friction pins,bushings and 3D printing gears,metalworking,carpentry and other processing technology to produce household pointer gear drive watch model.In the implementation process,students are happy to participate.The results of the implementation of the analysis:the project is moderate,in line with the level of student awareness;complete works show the need for adequate hours,as well as to keep students interested in teaching strategies;engineering design project evaluation methods and evaluation dimensions can be selected according to demand.After the teaching research of the engineering design project,the author summarizes the advantages of implementing the engineering design project in the general technical course of high school,and puts forward the following teaching suggestions:attention to the teaching content selection and overall design of the engineering design project;highlight the elements and educational value of the engineering design project;focus on engineering design project teaching evaluation methods;emphasis the importance of reflective learning of engineering design project.
