With the advance of algebra knowledge,the difficulty of entering into primary school classroom and algebra teaching,paying attention to students ’ algebra thinking has already become a subject that must be confronted in primary school mathematics teaching.In the past,most of the studies focused on the advanced students ’knowledge of algebra but neglected the development and cultivation of algebra thinking.This study focuses on the development of algebra thinking in the whole primary school,including the infiltration of the preparatory stage and the breakthrough in the preliminary learning stage.By interviewing our teachers,the author understands the present situation of algebra thinking of front-line teachers and learns the method of algebra thinking cultivation.On the basis of reading the 12-book teaching materials,the author analyses the structure of textbooks,combs the knowledge,grasps the requirements of algebra teaching,and finds the germinal point of the cultivation of algebra thinking.The author chooses the third grade students of primary school as the practical research object,through the questionnaire and the interview to understand the student algebra thought development condition and the algebra understanding level;Following the principle of cultivating relevant stages of algebra thinking,through teaching attempt and reflection,explore effective algebraic thinking cultivation method,implement and improve,and draw the conclusion:In accordance with the principle of timely,moderate and appropriate,teachers consciously use effective methods,the infiltration of algebra thought can promote the development of students ’ algebra thinking,the primary school in the lower grades concerned about the development of students’ algebra thinking,consciously cultivate students’ algebraic thinking,can learn algebra knowledge in preparation for higher grades,It can reduce the students ’ difficulty from the arithmetic thinking to the algebra thinking process and lay a solid foundation for the students to enter the junior middle school further algebra study.Although the author advocates to pay attention to the development and cultivation of students ’ algebra thinking in the whole primary school,it has a great limitation because of the research time,the author’s energy and ability,only in the third grade.In addition,on the basis of the research of text and practice,the author also puts forward some suggestions on the improvement of textbooks and teaching.
