Research On Social Work Intervention For The Elderly With Mild Dementia From The Perspective Of Empowerment

China has gradually entered an aging society.With the increasing number of elderly people,the demented elderly continue to increase.Some researches show that about 5%people aged 65 and over suffer from dementia.The physical disability of the demented elderly can easily lead to negative social labels,even leads to social discrimination and exclusion.However,the current society just pays attention to the physiological care of demented elderly,and ignore the empowerment for them,which leads to the state of losing power.This study takes the C street of Whampoa District of Guangzhou as the research field,and uses qualitative research methods to analyze the intervention of social work empowerment for demented elderly from several key points.At the end of the study,the author summarizes the intervention modal with the localization features.This model includes three intervention stages.In the prediction stage,social workers need to assess whether the demented elderly have lost their power,and then formulate service plans.In the stage of intervention,social workers need to aim at three aspects of the demented elderly and empower them in various ways.In the evaluation stage,social workers need to evaluate the effectiveness of the service.This study consists of five chapters.The first chapter is a summary of the general background of this study.The second chapter is the review of some relevant literatures,as well as the construction and exposition of the theoretical framework.The third chapter is about the research train of thought and research methods.In the fourth chapter,the author collect and sort out the general situation of the demented elderly and some typical cases about empowerment,and then constructs the intervention modal of social work empowerment.The fifth chapter is the summary and reflection of the first four chapters,and puts forward relevant suggestions and countermeasures.
