The establishment of the United States federal government and the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union,as two major political events in the history of the United States,not only have a bearing on the historical development of the United States,but also have an important impact on the process of world history.Therefore,in the academic circles,the historical research results of these two political events have been quite rich,but unfortunately,the exposition of these two political events in our textbooks has not fully reflected their historical status.With the continuous development of history pedagogy,historical comparative education has been paid more and more attention.As a powerful country in education,the educational concept and methods of the United States have become the focus of scholars'research.In the existing comparative history education between China and the United States,there are more macro-level studies on the education system,curriculum standards and teaching methods of the two countries,while there are relatively few case studies on the specific contents of textbooks.This paper compares the history textbooks in the United States,which has higher education quality in the world,with a view to putting forward feasible suggestions for history teaching in middle schools in China.This paper chooses the Chinese version of the compulsory high school history textbook and the American Prentice-Hall version of the history textbook as the research object,chooses the two major political events of "the establishment of the federal government of the United States"and "the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union" as the comparative content,and explores the origin of the differences between the two textbooks by comparing the differences in style,content and textbook auxiliary system.This paper also puts forward some suggestions on the content arrangement of history textbooks for middle schools in China.This paper includes three parts:The first part:An overview of Chinese and American history textbooks.By comparing the development history,selection system,curriculum standards and style arrangement of textbooks in the two countries,the basic understanding of textbooks in the two countrie is formed.The second part:Comparing the content of textbooks and the auxiliary system of textbooks between China and the United States in the two political events of,"the establishment of the Federal Government of the United States" and "the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union",exploring the specific differences in textbook description and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks.The third part:The analysis of the reasons for the differences between the contents of"the establishment of the federal government of the United States" and "the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union" in the history textbooks of China and the United States,and the summary of the suggestions found in the history textbooks of the United States that are worth compiling in our country.By analyzing and comparing the advantages of Chinese and American textbooks,this paper intends to improve the teaching of the world history module in middle schools,to help students deepen their macro-understanding of the world,and on this basis,combining with the current situation of curriculum reform in China,to explore a more efficient way of history classroom teaching,,so as to better serve the history teaching in middle schools.
