The research and teaching of historical figures have always been the focus of academic discussion.The teaching of historical figures in history textbooks and practice can stimulate students' interest in learning,deepen the understanding of historical events and historical phenomena,and help students develop their emotion,attitudes and values.The comparison of Chinese and American history textbooks can not only deepen the understanding of American history,but also further explore the educational philosophy and values behind textbooks.It is hoped that we can deepen the understanding of the United States and play a role of reference and inspiration for history teaching in China.This article intends to select Chinese Yuelu version textbooks and American Prentice hall version textbooks as research objects,and choose the textbooks on Washington,Lincoln,Roosevelt's narrative and presentation of relevant major historical events as comparative content.It is mainly based on American textbooks and supplemented by Chinese textbooks.It helps to understand historical figures from the perspective of textbook analysis.It focuses on exploring the similarities and differences between the textbooks of the two countries in the presentation of characters,and then draw methods and inspirations to meet the teaching needs of historical figures in China.At the same time,through the analysis of American textbooks,you can also partially glimpse the mainstream national values reflected in the writing of American textbooks.Understanding of American national values is not only an important factor for us to understand the reasons for the differences in education between China and the United States,but also to help break through cultural barriers and deepen exchanges between different cultures and civilizations.This article includes the following three parts:The first part of this article describes the main characteristics of the Chinese and American high school history curriculum standards and related requirements for historical figures.An overview of the structure of the selected Chinese and American history textbooks,an understanding of the main principles,and roughly summarize the overall characteristics of the characters in the book.The second part analyzes the textbook-related narratives of Washington during the American Revolutionary war and during the founding of the United States,Lincoln during the Civil War,and Roosevelt during the economic crisis and during World War ?.It compares the narrative differences between the two editions of Chinese and American textbooks and the similarities and differences in character evaluation.The third part is the thinking and enlightenments after comparison,including the American national values reflected in the differences.Five conclusions for the history teaching and textbook writing in China are summarized,hoping to inspire the teaching of historical figures in middle schools in our country,broaden the international perspective of history education,and enhance the competitiveness of domestic education.Based on this,a lesson on the character teaching case of President Franklin Roosevelt was designed to optimize the teaching of historical characters and reflect the practical significance of textbook comparison.
