The university tutorial classes movement is a vital sport in the history of British adult education. It was established in 1907 by the British University and the Workers' Education Association and formed by a joint committee of the two and the dual purpose of social development, that is,to promote their physical and mental development through liberal arts adult education and to reshape educational equity,to integrate the working class into society,so that they can better play the role of citizens. The movement of tutorial classes at British universities guarantees the equal right of the working class to education, promotes the development of working class rationality and mind, and makes an indelible contribution to the development of the British worker movement and society. For our country, the liberal arts adult education concept and educational equity ideas behind it not only help to maintain the harmony and stability of social relations, but also have important significance for promoting educational equity, vigorously developing the education of migrant workers and continuing university education. At present, domestic and foreign scholars have mostly empirical research on the movement of tutorial classes in British universities. There is a lack of systematic historical research and it is impossible to grasp the overall picture of the development of sports as a whole.Based on the existing research, this article takes the British university tutorial classes movement as the research object, based on the sports conference reports, policy documents and other first-hand historical documents, using the method of historical research,it has combed the development process and specific content of the tutoring class movement of British universities in detail, and divided the movement into three periods of formation, development and decline in chronological order, and then on the purpose, management system, teaching method and curriculum the four aspects of setting and appropriation mechanism are discussed in detail through the investigation of the social background, universities, and workers' education associations, analyzed the reasons for the decline of the movement due to changes in British social needs, the impact of universities and local education bureaus, and the reform and adjustment of workers' education associations, and then summarize the experience and deficiencies of the tutoring classes in British universities.Based on this, this research is based on the current situation and combined with specific reality, and puts forward the following suggestions that will help the development of continuing education in China's universities: the implementation of group discussion methods and the transformation of adult teaching methods;the promotion of liberal arts adult education to promote the comprehensivedevelopment of adult mind and body;support for disadvantaged groups, reshaping the equity of adult education;setting up and perfecting a special appropriation mechanism to ensure adequate funding for continuing education in universities.
