The Empirical Study On The Influencing Factors Of The Technology Spillover Effects And Channels Of Taiwan Agricultural FDI In Fujian From The Perspective Of Fujian Agri-Businesses

With the advancement of cross-strait communication and cooperation,agricultural technology cooperation becomes the advanced stage of cross-strait agricultural cooperation.The technology spillovers of Taiwan agricultural foreign direct investment(hereinafter called FDI)provide a new platform of agricultural development for Mainland China.What are the channels of technology spillovers of Taiwan FDI in Fujian?Which factors will influence the technology spillovers of Taiwan FDI in Fujian?Study on these issues has great significance on smoothing the technology spillover channels in Fujian agriculture and improving the abortion of FDI spillover effects among Fujian agri-businesses.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,this paper introduces the research background,determines the research objectives and contents,and proposes the research methods.Based on the literature,this paper summarizes related concepts,FDI spillover effects and the channels,and the respective influencing factors to lay the theoretical foundations.Secondly,the paper describes the development of Taiwan agricultural FDI in Fujian in terms of the scale,structure and regional distribution as well as the technology spillover of Taiwan FDI in Fujian agriculture sector.It is found that the amount and scale of making use of Taiwan FDI in Fujian province are growing.Taiwan agricultural FDI in Fujian concentrates in the agricultural processing industry but the investment ratio in agricultural plantation and cultivation is low.From the perspective of regional distribution,Taiwan agricultural FDI in Fujian concentrates in Fuzhou,Zhangzhou,Xiamen and other coastal areas but the trend of spreading to the mountainous regions is obvious.Demonstration-competition effect is the major channel of technology spillover of Taiwan FDI in Fujian.Thirdly,the paper,through questionnaire survey,describes the characteristics of Fujian agri-businesses which are associated with the technology spillovers of Taiwan agricultural FDI.These characters include the key features of Fujian agri-businesses,agricultural technology usage of Fujian agri-businesses,the channels of Fujian agri-businesses affected by Taiwan agri-businesses,and the cognition of Fujian agri-businesses of Taiwan agri-businesses to lay the foundation for subsequent analysis.It is found that Fujian agri-businesses is majorly affected by demonstration-competition channel,followed by industrial linkage,and least affected by channel of personal mobility.Fourthly,according to the questionnaire data,the paper uses Logistic regression model to analyze respectively the influencing factors of technology spillover effects and the channels of technology spillover of Taiwan FDI in Fujian.In terms of the influencing factors of technology spillover effects,it is found that the variable of engaging in the agricultural processing pass the significance test,but the variable of firm size and the variable of using agricultural technology are not significant.In terms of influencing factors of technology spillover channels,the variable of firm size is not obvious.The variable of engaging in the agricultural processing passes the significance test in the demonstration-competition and industrial linkage but not in the personnel mobility.The variable of using agricultural technology passes the significance test in the industry linkage but not in the demonstration-competition and personnel mobility.Through the empirical analysis,the findings are as follows.Fujian agri-businesses that are not engaged in agricultural processing are more easily influenced by Taiwan agri-businesses;(2)With regard to spillover channel,Fujian agri-businesses using agricultural technology are more capable of absorbing the technology spillover of Taiwan agricultural FDI through the channels of demonstration-competition and personnel mobility.Finally,the paper,by integrating literature review,questionnaire survey and in-depth interview,puts forward countermeasures and suggestions.It is important to rationalize the industry distribution of Taiwan agricultural FDI in Fujian,to create a good competitive environment,to strengthening the linkage between Fujian agri-businesses and Taiwan agri-businesses,to enhance personnel exchanges and training,and to improve the infrastructure construction in Mainland China.
