Commercial banks connect with the demand side and the supply side, and play an important role in our country. With China's economic development entering a new normal, economic growth is likely to be low compared to the previous growth rate. The bank as a typical cyclical industry, during the economic downturn, the impact is large.Under the "new normal" circumstances, analyzing how asset allocation affects operating efficiency is helpful for commercial banks coping with the new economic situation. This paper describes the characteristics and status of asset allocation in China's commercial banks, and then evaluates the efficiency of commercial banks from two angles of income-expenditure and profitability by using nonparametric efficiency measurement method. Then the author discusses the equilibrium degree of total assets, the degree of loan assets and discrete distribution of different types of loan assets, the proportion of the size of the bank and the perspective of the different effects of these factors on the efficiency of commercial banks. As for the efficiency measured from income and expenditure angle, the size of the bank has the positive influence;five major state-owned banks tend to have higher efficiency scores;loan assets in guaranteed loans, credit loans, mortgage loans, pledge the distribution of four types of more concentrated are more helpful to improve the efficiency to some extent.Whether lending rates are basically market-oriented or not,the proportion of housing loan is not significant. As for the efficiency measure from the profit point, the scale factor is not obvious, the state-owned banks is significantly more efficient;the loan assets ratio, has a negative impact on the efficiency;the reason may be macroeconomic downside risks, and the need for higher provision for loan assets under regulatory requirements;more balanced distribution of total bank assets is more conducive to improve efficiency;more concentrated distribution of loan assets is helpful to improve the efficiency of loan profit measure. In recent years, the proportion of investment assets in small and medium banks has improved rapidly in the proportion of total assets, while the traditional loans of large banks have been relatively large. In the future, small and medium banks need to pay attention to the risk of asset price changes caused by changes in interest rates, and large banks need to focus on the default risk of loan assets.
