A-grade tourist attraction,as the core of regional tourism development, was the primary source of tourist revenue. As the number of regional tourist attractions increases, the hierarchical structures improve constantly and tourist activities enlarge. Moreover, the spatial pattern of regional tourism attractions will also be changed, which exerts an important influence on the harmonious development of regional tourism industry.Although there are many high quality tourism resources in Gansu province, there are fewer high grade scenic spots.Tourist resources development and utilization is still stay in the first-class resources and third-rate development situation. However, the tourism resources superiority has not yet been converted into economic advantage. Therefore,in order to cope with the challenges faced by tourism development of Gansu province in the new period, the degree of tourism resources development and utilization of Gansu province should be increased, and the innovation and integration of scenic area resources should be further improved.A-class tourist scenic areas in Gansu province were took as the research object this paper takes.Using the Spatial Analyst Tools of Arc GIS10.2 software combining mathematical statistics and other methods, the spatial distribution pattern and influencing factors of A-grade tourist attractions in Gansu province were studied systematically. The result of research shows that:(1)Overall,the most appromiximating index of A-grade tourist attraction in Gansu province is 0.684,and the spatial distribution type belongs to agglomeration-random,showing the distribution of agglomeration and dispersion, and exhibits the characteristics of linear agglomeration along the main line of traffic and the core-edge diffusion features for the center of region. In terms of sub-regions,the nearest neighbor index gradually decreases from east to west, and the distribution type changes from random to agglomeration;the spatial distribution shows that the characteristics of central agglomeration of tourist city's central areas.(2)From the spatial distribution of different types of scenic spots, the nearest neighbor index of the cultural scenic spots is 0.649,the spatial distribution type is belong to agglomeration-random,and the beaded distribution features and formed some multiple agglomeration areas along the main line of traffic; The nearest neighbor index of the natural scenic spot is 0.934,and the spatial distribution type is belong to random type. The spatial distribution characteristics show that east is density while the west is sparsely. The two high density agglomeration areas of Lanzhou and Tianshui are mainly formed, and the other areas have remained. It shows that the distribution of humanistic scenic spots is more concentrated than the distribution of natural scenic spots.(3)From the spatial distribution of different grade attractions, the spatial distribution types of 4A,3A and 2A tourism were both for cluster-random type. With the rise of attraction grades, the most appromiximating index was also increasing, which indicated that the higher grade attractions tended to be balanced distribution, and the lower grade tended to be aggregated distribution. On the whole, the spatial distribution types of 4A tourism showed the characteristics of “dense in the east and sparse in the west”,mainly distributed in He-xi area, and the 3A tourisms was relatively disperse. However, the 2A and 4A tourism showed inversely compared to the 3A tourism, mainly distributed in Tianshui and Lanzhou city..(4)GIS and mathematical statistics were combined to analyze the spatial pattern characteristics and influencing factors of A-class tourist scenic spots in Gansu province. It is concluded that the spatial pattern of A-class tourist scenic spot was influenced by tourism resources, terrain and landforms, water system, regional economic development level, traffic networks, market demand and government policy.(5)In the light of the spatial distribution characteristics and the influencing factors of the A-class tourist scenic spots in Gansu province, this paper summarized the existing problems of the spatial distribution pattern of the A-class tourist scenic spots, including that the dependence of tourism resources was high, and the development depth of tourism resources and the innovation ability of the tourist scenic spots were not enough;the spatial distribution of the A-class tourist scenic spots were inbalanced, and the relationship between tourist attractions were weak. The optimization measures included: changing the development mode of tourist attractions, gradually getting rid of the dependence on resources, digging deeply the cultural connotation of tourism resources, improving the innovation ability of the tourism, breaking the regional boundary and establishing the mechanism of regional tourism cooperation, perfecting the traffic networks of tourist attractions.
