Since the reform and opening up,China's economy has achieved rapid growth, and the income level of urban and rural residents has been continuously improved, and the quality of life of the people has been obviously improved. At the same time, the problem of income gap between urban and rural areas is becoming more and more prominent behind the rapid growth of income, which has become a bottleneck restricting the development of economy and society.According to the Kuznets hypothesis, the income distribution gap is an unavoidable problem in the process of economic development. If we allow the widening of the income gap,it will inevitably affect the grand goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way.Shandong province has a high level of economic development and is also in the forefront of the country.Although the income gap between urban and rural residents is lower than the national average level, the income gap between urban and rural areas is relatively large,no matter the absolute or relative income gap between urban and rural areas. The disparity in income gap will affect the overall strength of Shandong. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the income gap in Shandong province for the realization of Rural Revitalization. This article is divided into six chapters. The first chapter describes the background and significance of the research, literature review, research content and methods, innovation and shortcomings. The second chapter introduces the evolution of income gap and the four measurement methods of income gap.The income gap theory includes both the income gap theory of western scholars and the income gap of Marx's political economics. This paper mainly studies the income gap from the perspective of the absolute income gap and the urban and rural income ratio. The third chapter focuses on the analysis of the current situation of urban and rural income gap in Shandong province and the trend of change. We compare and analyze the income gap between urban and rural residents in Shandong province and the income gap between urban and rural residents in China through the method of comparative analysis. At the same time,it compares the income gap between urban and rural cities in Shandong Province, and describes the characteristics of the statusand trend of the income gap between urban and rural areas in Shandong province. The fourth chapter is the theoretical analysis, from the economic factor and the non economic factor two angles to carry on the theoretical analysis. The economic factors enumerated six factors, and the non economic factors enumerated two factors. The fifth chapter is based on the theoretical analysis in the fourth chapter, taking into account the availability of data from 4 variables using two step EG cointegration test, the test results show that the urbanization rate, per capita GDP growth rate and human capital gap between urban and rural positively affect income gap in urban and rural areas, urban and rural dual contrast coefficient inversely affect the income gap between urban and rural areas. The empirical results of urbanization rate are not consistent with expectations. This may be because the household registration system hinders the free flow of labor force, which reduces the effect of urbanization narrowing the income gap.The sixth chapter, based on the analysis of the previous chapters, puts forward suggestions for narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas in Shandong Province.
