Study On Present Situation Of Chinese Investment In Myanmar

Myanmar is full of natural resources and labor force.Overseas Chinese has played an important role in Myanmar.the environment is getting better and better,coupled with stable Sino-Myanmar relations,these are favorable factors for Chinese companies to invest in Myanmar.In the past ten years,Chinese companies have actively participated in infrastructure construction,power resource development,and mineral exploration and cooperation in Myanmar,and have formed an industrial investment pattern focusing on hydropower development,mining,oil and gas exploration,and infrastructure construction;Chinese companies have invested in Myanmar.The number of stocks has grown stronger,the investment field has become more diversified,and the number of investors has also increased,which has achieved certain development results.However,the problems faced have also given a wake-up call to Chinese companies and cannot be ignored.Overall,Chinese enterprises investing in Myanmar have the following five characteristics: 1.China’s investment in Myanmar slows down,but it is still the largest investor in Myanmar.2.Investment industry concentration.3.The main investors are mainly large-scale state-owned enterprises,and private enterprises have also tried.4.Major projects are mainly BOT,PPP and RPC.5.The scale of investment projects is huge,concentrated in areas directly related to China’s national needs,with high risks.At present,the major difficulties China’s enterprises face in investing in Myanmar can be attributed to: 1.Myanmar’s domestic unfavorable factors affect investment.2.Weak policy links between China and Burma affect the investment process.3.International competition intensifies and Western media create obstacles.4.The insufficiency of Chinese companies is difficult to change.
