Research On The Influence Mechanism Of Social Capital On Entrepreneurial Selection And Urban-rural Differences

In addition to helping individuals realize their own value,entrepreneurship is also the driving force for economic development and plays an important role in increasing employment and promoting social progress and development.China is a society closely knitted by human relations net,so social capital with social trust,social network and social norms as its cores plays an important role in the entrepreneurial activity.Combined with the necessary process of choice of entrepreneurship,we studied social capital and its influence mechanism on the choice of individual entrepreneurship.Because of the differences in cultural system and institutional environment caused by China's special urban-rural dual pattern,the influence of social capital on the choice of individual entrepreneurship and its mechanism may be different between urban and rural areas.Therefore,this article took the special urban-rural dual pattern under the background of economy transformation as the breakthrough point,used the data of 2016 Chinese families track(CFPS),constructed the most comprehensive scientific Putnam social capital and its components,and studied the impact of social capital and its components on the choice of individual entrepreneurship,mechanism of action and the possible differences between urban and rural areas.The research reached the conclusions as:1.Through the method of factor analysis,the results of social capital in CFPS data show that the social capital of Chinese entrepreneurs is inverted "U" type distribution.2.Social capital can significantly improve the probability of entrepreneurship of individuals,and the promotion effect in rural areas is significantly greater than that in urban areas.3.Specifically,social capital will affect the choice of individual entrepreneurship through information mechanism,risk mechanism and financing mechanism.4.In terms of the urban-rural differences in the influence mechanism of social capital on the choice of entrepreneurship,the core reasons for the urban-rural difference in the information mechanism,risk mechanism and financing mechanism respectively are social network,social norms and social trust.Compared with the existing literature,major contributions in this dissertation include:1.We constructed the most comprehensive Putnam social capital variables and its three core components with factor analysis method.2.The influence mechanism of social capital on the choice of entrepreneurship and the difference between urban and rural areas were verified by combining theory with empirical methods.3.The robustness and endogeneity of the model were tested by using different entrepreneurial definitions and instrumental variables.
