Outsourcing business is a new type of business that was born in the era of big asset management. It has opened up new profit channels for commercial banks. However, this type of business, which evades supervision and increases leverage, also increases the risk of the financial system, promotes the bad momentum of capital de-leverage and violates the purpose of financial de-leverage vigorously pursued by the regulatory authorities. Therefore, clarifying the relationship between the size of outsourcing and bank performance is very important for the future development of banks. However,no empirical study on the relationship between them has been found in the domestic literature.Discussions on outsourcing are mostly limited to macro-analysis and qualitative description. Therefore, this paper decides from the scale of the outsourcing business, based on the financial data of 16 listed commercial banks from 2013 to 2018,empirically explores the relationship between the size of the subcontract and the bank performance. The full text is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter is an introduction. This paper mainly introduces the research background and significance, research methods and so on,and draws the technical roadmap, and finally puts forward the innovation and shortcomings of this paper. The second chapter is literature review.Through the review of the data, this paper summarizes the existing research on the three aspects of outsourcing business, influencing factors of bank performance, and the relationship between outsourcing business and bank performance at home and abroad. The third chapter analyzes the status quo of the foreign business of commercial banks in China.Firstly, this paper introduces several main operation modes of outsourcing business, and then selects 16 listed commercial banks as representatives to make a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the scale of their funds and income. The results show that: from 2013 to 2016,the funds outside the bank commission continued to grow, and began to rise and fall under the pressure of supervision in 2017.The situation of the income outside the bank commission is similar. At the same time, the bank is divided into three categories: state-owned commercial banks,joint-stock commercial banks and city commercial banks.Through comparative analysis,it is concluded that joint-stock banks are the backbone of the development of outsourcing, and urban commercial banks are the emerging force of the development of outsourcing. Finally,it briefly describes the supervision policy of the outsourcing business. The fourth chapter is the theoretical analysis and research hypothesis.By analyzing the impact of subcontracted business development on the three aspects of bank profitability, risk and competitiveness, combined with the actual situation, two assumptions are proposed: Firstly, there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between the scale of bank outsourcing and its operating performance.Second, there are differences in the impact of outsourcing scale on the performance of different types of banks. The fifth chapter is about model design and data sources.Firstly, the panel data of 16 listed commercial banks from 2013 to 2018 are selected as research samples to construct an empirical model of outsourcing scale and bank performance. Then introduce the source of the data and descriptive analysis of the sample data. The sixth chapter is the analysis of empirical results.Firstly, the model is tested, and then the regression results of the whole bank and different types of banks are analyzed respectively. It is concluded that:(1)The scale of outsourcing has an inverted U-shaped relationship with bank performance;(2)The impact of outsourcing scale on the performance of different types of banks is different. The seventh chapter is about the development of the bank’s outsourcing business in China. It mainly analyses the mode, risk, supervision of the development of outsourcing business and its impact on the real economy. The eighth chapter is the summary and recommendations,it summarizes the study of the full text, and it is proposes corresponding countermeasures from the perspectives of banking industry, different types of banks and regulators. In order to bring some inspiration to the good development of the bank’s outsourcing business.
