Since the 18 th National Congress of the CPC,China's economic development has entered a new normal stage.The new economic era has begun,the financial environment has changed,and the banking industry is undergoing great changes.The macroeconomic environment,market competition environment and regulatory policy environment have undergone profound changes.The traditional business logic,growth mode and risk prevention and control of commercial banks are facing a new test.Faced with such a diverse and complex new situation,as a small and medium-sized bank,city commercial banks will have to face the market competition of big waves and sands.New changes such as marketization of interest rate,rapid development of Internet Finance and stricter financial supervision have challenged the traditional profit-making model of urban commercial banks,which relies on the deposit-loan gap to obtain profits.The difficulty of risk management has increased and the quality of credit assets has been declining.The traditional development model characterized by large-scale expansion has become unsustainable.The market is forcing the city commercial banks to speed up the new journey of transformation and development.On the basis of reviewing the relevant theories of strategic transformation of commercial banks,this paper analyses the development strategy and operation status of M city commercial banks through literature search,questionnaire survey,interview and case analysis.This paper also summarizes the main problems,such as convergent strategic positioning,serious homogeneous competition,single business variety,narrow profit channels,extensive management model and weak risk control ability.At the same time,on the basis of researching and analyzing other cases of commercial bank transformation practice,combining with the internal resource environment and actual situation of M city commercial bank,this paper analyses the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and challenges of M City Commercial Bank transformation development,and puts forward some suggestions for M city commercial bank to accelerate transformation development.According to the analysis of the paper,in order to achieve sustainable development under the new normal conditions,M city commercial banks must orientate scientifically,focus on the main direction of financial retail business,establish the concept of regional customer-centered and service quality priority,improve business processes,and improve differentiated and precise service capabilities.M city commercial banks also must implement the strategy of driving financial technological innovation and supporting talents in an all-round way,pay attention to characteristic development and innovation of products and services,consolidate barriers to market competition in local market segments,give full play to local advantages,foster social networks,build business ecosystems,improve flexibility of operating mechanisms and strengthen risk management and control capabilities.This paper takes M City Commercial Bank as an example to discuss the transformation and development of city commercial bank,hoping to provide reference for the transformation and development of other city commercial banks under the new normal conditions.
