In the context of mass customization,modularity made the entire manufacturing system more flexible within the enterprise and increased the flexibility of the entire supply chain network.Implementing a modular strategy requires an agile supply chain to help them quickly capture customized customer demand information,bring new products to market in a timely manner,and reduce order delivery time.Some scholars believe that the synergy between modular and agile supply chains can greatly improve business performance and maintain competitive advantage.Some scholars believe that product modularity has an impact on supply chain agility and corporate performance.Process modularity has no impact on supply chain agility and corporate performance.Therefore,from the perspective of supply chain operation,it is necessary to clarify the relationship among modularization strategy,supply chain agility and enterprise performance through empirical research,especially to explore whether modularization strategy has an impact on supply chain agility and whether the synergistic effect of modularization strategy and supply chain agility will have an impact on enterprise performance.At present,the research on modularization is mainly focused on product modularization,and little attention has been paid to process modularization.Moreover,whether there are differences between product modularization and process modularization on the impact of enterprise performance has not been given specific conclusions,and there is a lack of empirical research.Based on the literature review of relevant research,this paper constructed the relationship model of "modularization strategy-supply chain agility-enterprise performance".Empirical research found that:(1)product modularization had a significant positive impact on financial performance,but had no significant positive impact on operational performance;process modularization had a significant positive impact on operational performance,but had no significant positive impact on financial performance.(2)Modularization strategy had a significant positive impact on supply chain agility,and supply chain agility had a significant positive impact on enterprise performance.(3)Supply chain agility played a part of intermediary role between product modularization and financial performance,and between product modularization and operational performance;supply chain agility played a full intermediary role between process modularization and financial performance,and between process modularization and operational performance.From the perspective of the relationship between modularity and enterprise performance,this paper extended from the internal operation level to the supply chain operation level.It empirically examined the relationship between product modularity and process modularity on enterprise performance,and revealsed that different types of modularization have different impacts on enterprise performance.
