Earnings Forecasts is an important channel for investors to get information before the disclosure of periodic reports by listed companies,which has affected investors' decision making to a certain extent.Many achievements have been achieved in the research of accounting information,and the research object is concentrated on the digital information.However,the accounting information includes not only the digital information but also the language information.Moreover,the accounting language information has a greater space to control.Self-serving attribution is the phenomenon that the manager attributes the success to himself when the performance is good,and attributes the failure to the environment when the performance is bad.This phenomenon is likely to mean that the attribution information is not objectively true,for example,a company in a macro economic downturn with poor performance,the management in the narrative has cited reasons related to the economic downturn and fierce competition in the industry and other adverse external factors,but did not mention the management when the internal factors such as the macroeconomic situation improved after;the performance of the com pany,with good management,but in the narrative reason,only lists the various measures taken by the management,but did not mention the improvement in the external economic environment.The study of self-serving attribution in the earnings forecasts is of certain significance to strengthen supervision and protect the interests of investors.This paper reviews the literature on self-serving attribution both at home and abroad,and then reviews signal transfer theory,agency problem,gatekeeper theory and the connotation,generation and economic consequences of self-serving attribution.This paper then analysed the attribution in Highlander Digital Technology Company's earnings forecasts.The earnings forecasts type and attribution strategies the Highlander company involved are more abundant.And it experienced performance cycle from good to bad and good to bad,so this paper research this companyThe study found self-serving attributions,causality denial and enhancement phenomenon in the earnings forecasts of Highlander,then analysed the influence factors of Highlander's self-serving attribution.Finally,some suggestions are made for the disclosure of earnings forecastsThis paper collate the relevant theories of self-serving attribution.The case involves causality denial and enhancement phenomenon which is seldom involved before.It is of certain significance for investors to understand self-serving attribution and for regulators to strengthen supervisionThis thesis firstly reviewed certain researches of impression management,self-serving attribution and earnings forecasts,then analyzed the self-serving attributions in the earnings forecasts of Beijing Highlander Digital Technology Co.,Ltd.,then analyzed the reason of these attributions.
