Xi Jinping’s Targeted Poverty Alleviation Theory In A New Era And Its Practice In Guangdong

The problem of poverty was a major global problem,which has been being an obstacle to the economic development of many countries.In the 40 years since the reform and opening up,China has been committed to the cause of poverty alleviation,and has achieved remarkable achievements.The Communist Party of China has always kept in mind the purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly,constantly creating favorable conditions for the poor and seeking happiness for the people.Xi Jinping emphasized that eradicating poverty,improving people’s livelihood and gradually realizing common prosperity are the essential requirements of socialism and an important mission of our Party.Since the 18 th National Congress,Xi Jinping has conducted in-depth research on poor areas throughout the country,comprehensively grasped China’s poverty situation,and put forward the concept of “targeted poverty alleviation” in practice.The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that we must remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind,hold high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics,secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects,strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era,and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.The building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects is the solemn commitment of our Party to the world and the people of the whole country and the first centenary goal of the Chinese nation.Poverty alleviation is one of the three major battles for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.It is an important task for our country and we must win this war without smoke of gunpowder.At present,China’s poverty alleviation work has entered the stage of sprinting out of poverty.It is necessary to tackle tough problems,crack the hard nut,and take more comprehensive and targeted measures to win the battle against poverty,so as to provide solid guarantees for the completion of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.As China’s largest economic province,Guangdong’s poverty problem is still very obvious,which is seriously inconsistent with its rapid economic development.By the end of 2018,there were still more than 200 thousand poor people in Guangdong,and the task of poverty eradication was extremely heavy.When Xi Jinping visited Guangdong in October 2018,he emphasized that there must be no less to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects.How to accelerate the pace of poverty alleviation in Guangdong is the key problem discussed in this paper.Guided by Xi Jinping’s socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in a new era,this paper analyses the main problems and causes of poverty alleviation in Guangdong,combines with the practice of poverty alleviation in Guangdong,applies Xi Jinping’s theory of targeted poverty alleviation in a new era,puts forward new measures to guide Guangdong’s poverty alleviation efforts,and tries to provide replicable and popularizable experience of poverty alleviation for the rest of the country.
