Research On China High-tech Product Export Comparative Advantage Dynamic Evolvement:Product Space Perspective

The production and export capability of high-tech products has always been an important manifestation of a country's comprehensive national strength,and it is also an indispensable boost engine for a country's economy to maintain high quality and sustained growth.After the reform and opening,the scale of China's high-tech product exports has grown significantly,but the quality of development still needs to be improved.How to break through the traditional comparative advantage and achieve the dynamic upgrade of comparative advantage is an urgent issue for China's high-tech products export.After studying the domestic and foreign scholars'literature on the dynamic evolution of comparative advantage,China's high-tech product export,product space theory and industry upgrade,combined with relevant theories,this paper used the amount,structure,subject,mode of China's high-tech products export,and the number,the industry field of China's comparative advantage high-tech products to state the current situation of China's high-tech product export comparative advantage,and observed the dynamic evolution trend of comparative advantage of China's high-tech products from a new perspective of product space.This paper used"year-country-product"high-dimensional dynamic panel data to analyze the relationship between high-tech products distribution characteristics in product space and its export comparative advantage,then proposed the target choice path suggestions of China's future cultivation comparative advantage high-tech products based on product density calculation results and other counter measures.Study shows that China's high-tech product export capacity has a certain strength base,but in recent years,the overall growth rate is slowing down,and it is necessary to find a breakthrough in further development.This paper also compared the dynamic evolution of the high-tech product space network map in 1992,2005 and 2017,and finds that the core-margin dividing area in high-tech product space appears to be more obvious,although the high-tech products with comparative advantages in China now are mainly located in the edge of the product space which has less transition opportunity,it gradually evolving from the edge of the product space to the core area which has more transition opportunities.The calculation result shows that the product density of high-tech products has a positive effect on its export comparative advantage,so it should give priority to the development of high-potential comparative advantage products with high product density.Finally,this paper proposed that in order to realize the dynamic upgrading of China's high-tech product export comparative advantage,government should select the high-tech product cultivation target in succession,improve the efficiency of resource use,create a good foreign trade environment and promote the integration of production-education-research.
